Mudlarking: How foraging on the foreshore can reveal stories from the past
Nicola White is a British ‘Mudlark’ and artist whose work is inspired by found objects old and new picked up on her walks along the Thames foreshore. At low tide, many fragments of London’s rich and ancient history are revealed along the banks of the river. One of her other pastimes is hunting for messages in bottles and she now has quite a collection! Nicola will share the stories of some of her most interesting finds as well as some of her messages in bottles. www.tidelineart.com
About the talk:
In this lecture Nicola will share the stories of some of her most interesting finds while ‘Mudlarking’ along the Thames foreshore – as well as some of her messages in bottles. With ‘Ocean Stories’ being one of our core topics at Here on Earth – we encourage you to join us to listen to Nicola and reflect on how the objects we discard or lose are shared with the world through our oceans – both as pollution but also as stories about our shared humanity and pasts.
